The Education Foundation of Brown Deer welcomed four new Board of Director members. Michael Weiss, President, is a Brown Deer High School graduate Class of 1981, Mark Liebelt, Vice President, Brown Deer High School graduate Class of 1979, Vicky Cassista, Treasurer, Brown Deer resident since 2010, and Amanda Stewart, Secretary, School District of Brown Deer Registrar since 2021. Thank you to former board members, Barb Fleming, Kathy Stresman, Mark Laux, and Courtney Krueger for all of their time and dedication to the Education Foundation.

Last month we featured the Brown Deer Magazine, a great way for citizens and alumni to stay up to date with everything happening in Brown Deer and the Brown Deer School District.

This month we are pleased to feature Brown Deer’s new podcast, “Matters of Brown Deer School District.” For residents and alumni looking to stay informed about everything happening in the district, this is yet another way to stay connected and get all of the information you’re looking for.

We’ve reached November, and in the spirit of the upcoming holiday, we wanted to share just how thankful we are for all of the members of the Brown Deer Public Schools Friends & Alumni Network this year and every year!

Alumni associations are only as strong as the members who get involved with them. We’re fortunate to have a ton of tremendous volunteers, as well as many members who support us financially and in other ways. 

Just because you no longer attend school in the School District of Brown Deer, it doesn't mean you can't remain engaged in our school activities! Our Brown Deer Middle and High School pride themselves on the many outstanding theatre performances our students take part in throughout the year. We wish to share some of these theatrical experiences with you and your families, and invite you and to attend one or more of these theatre productions.

With the holiday season in full swing, you’re probably focused on making sure you have all of your gifts for your loved ones taken care of. But don’t forget to treat yourself as well!

Now is a great time to become a member of the Brown Deer Public Schools Friends & Alumni Network. There are so many ways in which membership in our organization is a gift not just for you, but for others as well.

We are thrilled to announce our brand new online community Brown Deer Public Schools Friends & Alumni Network, which will allow us to establish greater connections with our graduates and the community. We’re very excited to get connected with alumni of all ages!

Through this new alumni network, all Brown Deer alumni, supporters and community members will be able to stay connected and receive regular updates and news articles, along with a wide variety of information on special events, mentoring and volunteer opportunities. An Alumni Directory allows you to easily find and connect with other alumni, no matter where they’re located.

Mentoring is a great way for you to pass your knowledge, wisdom and advice on to a student as he or she grows and learns. More than that, it also allows you to give back to the educational institution that helped you get to where you are today. It speaks volumes about your character and can even help you grow and develop as a leader and professional. 

Mentorship is something that’s valuable both ways. More than the good feeling you get from teaching and encouraging someone your junior, that individual is gaining access to a wealth of understanding and experience. Mentees often go on to do big things, thanks in part to the person who took time to be their mentor. They may even go on to become a mentor themselves—creating a legacy of giving back.
