Community Scholarships

 2024 Brown Deer Community Scholarship Applications has now closed. Please check back in March 2025 for the 2025 Application Information

 

Available to students who plan to attend an accredited post-secondary institution or training program during the year immediately following graduation. To be considered a student MUST:

  • Submit this completed form before Friday, April 5th, 2024 at 4:00 pm.
  • Ask their reference to return a completed letter of recommendation on or before Friday, April 5th, 2024 at 3 pm.
  • Provide accurate information on the scholarship application.
  • Attend an accredited college or technical school on a full-time basis for the 2024-25 school year. In unique circumstances and at the discretion of the Education Foundation of Brown Deer, Inc., the scholarship may be reserved for use during the 2025-26 school year (e.g. military obligation).
  • Not receive other financial awards equal to or greater than the full cost of tuition, room and board per academic year. Please notify us at [email protected] if you receive such awards.

***Please note that this application is for several Brown Deer community scholarships including the Kurt and Dan Scholarship for the Trades and the Johnson Family Scholarship. Please indicate which scholarship(s) you wish to apply for within the applications. Students may apply for multiple scholarships. 

Funds will be disbursed to scholarship award winners in September/October upon presentation of a "Proof of Enrollment" document to the Education Foundation of Brown Deer, Inc. by the student, signifying full time enrollment at the accredited college or technical school. Awards will be forfeited if “Proof of Enrollment” is not received by October 31.


The Brown Deer Community Scholarship application should be submitted to the EFBD on or before Friday, April 5, 2024, at 4:00 pm. No application (including letter of recommendation) will be accepted after this date. Staff should upload letters of recommendation to Staff Letter of Recommendations

Steve Novak Honorable Athlete Scholarship

Criteria

BDHS seniors who live in Brown Deer and will attend a 4-year college. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. Students must be active in one (1) or more school sports as well as services the community; this could include civic or school organizations and community service.

Johnson Family Scholarship

Criteria

BDHS seniors who are African American or bi-racial, with a minimum GPA of 2.70. Applicants must have volunteer experience and should have participated in sports (preference but not required). Applicants will submit an essay that focuses on the intersection of diversity, world peace and how the student will impact change by attending college.

Kurt and Dan Scholarship for the Trades

Criteria

BDHS seniors who will be entering the Skilled Trades. Applicants may be enrolled in a Technical School program in the trades, or accepted into an apprenticeship program.

Two students will be awarded $1983.00 each
